Beginners Notes
This is not going to be the easiest thing I've ever done, so please bear with me.
We're just a couple of friends "talking". K? {smiles} (Well, me talking: you reading)
On December 11, 1997, I sat down with my first PC, (her name was Bessie), and my hands shook like crazy. I could barely type to register the thing, and I thought the mouse was backwards, (I'm not very coordinated).
[ LOL = "Laugh Out Loud" ]
I've never had a class or read a book on computing. I learned this all by looking around it and the net. I hope I can clear up some things for you. And if you go through "My Course" of How To pages, you should feel pretty comfortable, and ready to move to HTML. (I have that here, too)
I guess the first thing I can tell you is: "default" means like "favorite". You want to use it before any other program you have can use it. This will make sense later, but something I wish I had known in the beginning. But, then maybe I wouldn't be doing this now. {smiles}
Get a notebook and keep notes and a list of passwords. They do tend to accumulate as you start getting around more. I could tell you stories. But let's get back to the learnin'.
You should also get an alternate E-Mail besides your ISP (Internet Service Provider).
You can get YourName@101mail.net right here at Beginners 101. It has lots of Features you may enjoy, like using stationary.
You can sign up for Free anytime by Clicking on 101 Mail at the top of any page.
Below is a "Screenshot" of me making this page
I am including My "Desktop" so you can get a visual of how I get from one place to another.
If You look in the top right in the red box
The "Line" = Minimize
The "Box" or "Double Box" = Switching between "Full Screen" and "Sizing" it to fit Your Needs
The "X" will close the window completely
I've Explained them below the Screenshot.
Minimize
When You "Minimize" a screen, it puts it down to your "Taskbar", so you can get it back again. If you minimize all the screens you have open, you should be at your "Desktop".
To get it back up, see at the bottom of the above "screenshot" where the red box it says "Beginners" (that's me working on this page), if you click on it, it's back up to view.
This works with anything that has the "Minimize" "Line" in the top right hand corner of that Window.
You can also just click on the "button" to move that particular "Window" to the front where you can see it, or any one you want.
Also, when you go to some sites, they have "Pop Ups". If you are a real "Surfer", they can accumulate. If you see a bunch of buttons on Your "TaskBar", Open them, if you don't need them any further, just use the "X" and Exit the Page.
Or, of course, you can go to "File" then "Close".
