Configuring Your E-Mail

Important Tips and
Changing Your "Name" and "Reply Addy"

The Most Important E-Mail "Lesson" I can give You is:
Protect Your Friends & Family
Do NOT send E-mail to more than one person without seeing this Page

Protect Yourself

Get yourself an "Alternate" E-Mail addy. You can get one all over the place, even here at Beginners 101, (Click Here) or a "Hotmail" account, (advantages below).

When You sign someone's "Guestbook", your e-mail addy is out there for "unscrupulous" people to get and start sending you "garbage" you definitely will not want.
So, use the "Alternate" e-mail for things like that. That way, you can check your mail, but your ISP E-Mail addy is safe with your close Family and Friends.

Below is My "Outlook Express" E-Mail Window
We are going directly to "Tools"
Then "Accounts"

Make sure you are on the "Mail" tab
You should see something similar to this
Probably only One Account
Highlite the Account
Click on "Properties

This is where you can sign up for a "Hotmail" Free E-Mail Account and get them right in Your "Outlook Express".
To Do This:

If you would like to change Your Name as it appears on your "Outgoing" E-Mail,
Or change your "reply" addy, this is the place.

First, make sure the "Account" is "Highlited"
Then click on "Properties"

You should now have this screen
Make sure you are on the "General" tab

In the top line that is sooo dark, get yours "Highlited" and type in Your Name (or any name you want) as you want it to appear to others when you send them and e-mail.
Also, type it in the line below where it says "Name:"

You can also change other informations there. Like:

"Organization" (you can put your URL, if you have one)
"Reply Address" (if you want them to reply to a different addy)
Click on "Apply" button at the bottom of screen

You can look around the other tabs. Get familiar with the way things look a little. You never know when you might run across something you're looking for {smiles}. How do you think I found things? No one told me. I looked around.
Just DON'T change any settings unless you know what you are doing.
Name changes and such are very easy. Settings, well could run you into a big problem.
OK?
