Configuring Your E-Mail

How Your "Outlook Express©" looks and works

I'm not going to give directions on each and every tab. You can look around and change "fonts" and little things. I'm just going to give you some basics here.
Like I've said before, Look Around. Just don't change any "settings". {smiles}

In this screen, Go to "Tools"
Then "Options"

You should get the screen below
If you are not on "General" Tab, Click it.

In this screen, you have lots of options. If you have decided to get a "Hotmail" account, you will want to check the box for it here, if it is not already.
These "Options", all of them here in each tab. These should be read, one by one, and "Check" the "Options" YOU want.
Same thing on the "Read" tab. Set your fonts for YOUR veiwing convenience.

Note:
You can choose what sound your e-mail alert makes.
Please check "Configuring Sounds" on the main listing.

This is the "Send" Tab Screen
Choose YOUR "Options" here also.
Do YOU Want the original message in Your reply?
Check It!!

Do YOU Want people you write to, to be automatically put into Your Adress Book?
Check It!!

You can change them all day long if you want. {smiles}
Make it work for YOU!

Just remember to Click on "Apply" for the change you want to keep.

Jumping to the "Signature" tab

As You can see, I have different signatures. You may want more than one; You may just need one. It's YOUR decision. You can always add or delete later. Just set the one you will want to use most often as Your "default" signature.

I also don't need my "signature" on all of my e-mails. So I chose not to check that box. If you do, by all means, Check I!!

To make a signature, you have two (2) options:

You can type it in the little box towards the bottom of the screen
Or you can type it in any text editor (Notepad or Wordpad come to mind immediately).

If you type it in the little box, make sure the "Text" radio button has a "dot" in it.
click on "Apply" button at bottom.

If you expect your signature to be quite long, you might want to type it in a text editor, (if you know html, you can also make and signature.html file for it).

You will want to use the "File" radio button. Then "Browse" to where the file is located, or type in the "path" to the box. Click on "Apply" button, of course.

You can make as many as you want. You can name them what you want.

If you want to rename a signature, highlite it and click on "Rename", type in the new name.

Easy enough! Right? {smiles}

Quick Note:
If you want to put your signatures in with "Stationary", you will most likely find them at:

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Stationary
