You should run Your ScanDisk often,
(I run mine daily. You may only need to do it once a week or even less. I'm on about 12 hrs per day every day.)
Scandskw.exe (is the filename on my pc)
The Easiest Way to Get There is:
Go to "Start"
Then "Program Files"
Then "Accessories"
Then "System Tools"
"ScanDisk"
You will want to run it "Thorough", (so make sure it's checked) **
You'll want it to "Automatically Fix Errors", so make sure it's checked.
Click on Start Button
** Note:
The bigger your harddrive, the longer this will take.
If You have a large harddrive, You may want to consider running "Standard" daily, and Thorough once a week as a good maintenance plan.
You may get the following screen pop up while it's running.
Just Click "NO"
You just don't need to be bothered. {smiles}
You can use Your "Task Scheduler" to have it run automatically at a certain day and time. Maybe while you're asleep.
You should also run your "Defragment" regularly
